Collaborating with Belgian master chocolatier Pierre Marcolini and marquetry specialist Toby Winteringham, we created the delectably geometric Structure of Chocolate.
The pattern footprint for this wooden installation was based on the structure of a single hexagonal molecule of the chocolate compound theobromine. Each arm of the structure represented a different element within the molecule.
Merging Marcolini’s luxury chocolates with Winteringham’s specialist craft of inlay, we created a piece that was intriguing, scientific and delicious. The result was unexpectedly edible marquetry, with chocolate infused by wood. True to our design principles, the chocolate display celebrated the power of pattern to educate, inspire and uplift.
