Blood Moon Magic

Looking up to the heavens tomorrow, 27 July 2018,  you might witness a Blood Moon, which is believed to be the longest total lunar eclipse of the century. This occurs when the Moon passes directly behind Earth and into its shadow, which can occur only when the Sun, Earth, and the Moon are aligned. During this moment, the moon is tinged a red-orange colour caused by a phenomenon known as ‘Rayleigh scattering’, which filters out bands of green and violet light in the atmosphere during an eclipse. In a lucky coincidence, Mars will also be the closest distance from Earth in 15 years on the same day…

Tuning into these profound natural cycles draws attention to the beauty of our interconnected universe.
